Position Overview

General Motors (GM) is seeking a Designer – Human Interface Design (Level 6 Individual Contributor) to support the creation of intuitive, human-centered experiences across vehicles, digital platforms, and design systems. This role sits within GM’s Human Interface Design organization and contributes to the company’s vision of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion.

Designers in this role work both independently and collaboratively, applying strong craft skills and sound judgment within established design processes to deliver high-quality digital and physical experiences.


Work Arrangement

This position is categorized as hybrid and aligned to GM hub locations in Warren, MI or Sunnyvale/Mountain View, CA.


Focus Areas

GM is hiring designers across the following Human Interface Design focus areas:

Vehicle Experiences
Designs in-vehicle digital ecosystems, including operating systems, cabin interfaces, sound, and motion experiences.

Design Systems & Craft
Shapes GM’s visual identity and advances the GM Design System across vehicle, web, and mobile platforms.

Advanced UX
Explores next-generation vehicle experiences using conceptual design, rapid prototyping, and 3D modeling.

Services & Web Platform
Designs web and app experiences across GM and its brands, connecting users to vehicles and services through intuitive, safe, and engaging digital interactions.
