Role Overview
Tabby is seeking a Data Scientist (Risk) to join its Data Science team within the Risk Department. This role focuses on developing and maintaining risk models that support credit decisioning and fraud prevention, while also contributing to next-generation machine learning initiatives.
The position offers exposure to advanced modeling techniques, scalable data infrastructure, and automation of machine learning workflows. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment where data science directly impacts business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain risk models using advanced machine learning techniques, including hybrid and sequential approaches
- Retrain, monitor, and validate production models to ensure accuracy and adaptability to evolving customer behavior
- Build and manage scalable data marts in BigQuery to support analytics and model development
- Contribute to the development of internal ML automation tools and workflows (e.g., AutoML components)
- Deliver data-driven insights through ad-hoc analysis for product, credit, and operations teams
- Participate in research and early-stage prototyping of advanced architectures, including transformers and multimodal models
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or risk analytics roles, preferably with exposure to credit scoring
- Strong proficiency in Python and common ML/data libraries (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, CatBoost, XGBoost, LightGBM)
- Experience using PyTorch to build and fine-tune machine learning models
- Advanced SQL skills with experience handling large datasets
- Experience building and deploying end-to-end machine learning solutions
- Hands-on experience with Airflow, Docker, or similar tools for production ML workflows
- Professional fluency in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Prior exposure to financial datasets and risk management concepts
