The Opportunity
DAT Freight & Analytics is seeking a Network Governance Investigations Specialist to join its fraud prevention and risk team. This hands-on investigative role is responsible for protecting the integrity of DAT’s marketplace by identifying, investigating, and mitigating fraudulent activity.
This position is well suited for candidates who enjoy analytical problem-solving, detailed investigations, and cross-functional collaboration. The role works closely with operational, product, engineering, and strategy teams to investigate suspicious behavior, improve fraud detection tools, and strengthen access protection systems across DAT platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate suspected fraud by analyzing user behavior, transaction activity, and account patterns
- Review fraud alerts and determine whether activity is legitimate or fraudulent, documenting findings clearly and accurately
- Monitor high-risk accounts and conduct outbound communication with users to validate legitimate activity while minimizing false positives
- Tag and flag suspicious accounts and transactions to support machine learning model training and automated detection improvements
- Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for fraud detection tools, security enhancements, and prevention system updates
- Analyze fraud trends across DAT’s marketplace and Convoy Platform to identify emerging threats and behavioral indicators
- Document fraud tactics, investigation outcomes, and actor behavior to build institutional knowledge
- Translate investigative insights into actionable recommendations for product and fraud strategy teams
- Support development and refinement of DAT’s proprietary CARVE fraud detection methodology
- Maintain detailed records of investigations, resolutions, and customer communications in fraud management systems
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–4 years of experience in operations, customer support, compliance, risk, investigations, or analytical roles
- Strong investigative mindset with exceptional attention to detail
- Analytical ability to identify anomalies, patterns, and behavioral indicators in data and user activity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort handling sensitive fraud-related conversations
- Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets; SQL experience strongly preferred
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance fraud prevention and customer experience
- Ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously while maintaining thorough documentation
- Collaborative approach with experience working cross-functionally
- Adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fraud prevention, trust & safety, financial crimes, or risk management
- Experience using CRM or case management tools such as Salesforce
- Basic SQL or database querying experience
- Background in transportation, logistics, marketplace platforms, or financial services
Compensation & Benefits
- Washington salary range: $52,000 – $87,000
- Compensation is based on experience, skills, internal equity, and market considerations
