Role Overview
Xapo Bank is seeking a Platform Engineer to join its platform engineering team. This role focuses on maintaining and evolving a cloud-native developer platform that enables engineering teams to work faster, more efficiently, and with greater reliability.
The Platform Engineer will contribute to improving self-service capabilities, automating operational workflows, and ensuring platform scalability, observability, and security. This position offers strong opportunities for hands-on learning and growth while working on systems that directly support developer productivity and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance a cloud-native infrastructure platform
- Expand self-service capabilities to enable engineering teams to independently manage resources and workflows
- Identify and automate manual processes to reduce operational toil and improve reliability
- Ensure platform scalability, security, and observability as systems evolve
- Monitor and proactively manage infrastructure to meet availability and performance requirements
- Participate in a compensated on-call rotation to support 24/7 service availability
Tools & Technologies
The platform engineering team works with a modern infrastructure stack, including:
- Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
- AWS (ECS, RDS, SQS, VPC, KMS)
- GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Datastream, BigQuery)
- Docker
- GitHub and GitHub Actions
- Monitoring and alerting tools such as Coralogix and PagerDuty
Required Skills & Experience
- 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering
- Foundational understanding of cloud-native and automated infrastructure platforms
- Experience or familiarity with:
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Cloud providers, primarily AWS and some GCP
- Containerization technologies (Docker)
- CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
- Monitoring and observability tools
- Scripting experience using Python and/or Bash
- Ability to follow established procedures while also identifying opportunities to automate and improve existing solutions
- Strong problem-solving mindset with an emphasis on reducing future manual effort

- Clear communication of work progress, challenges, and improvements
- Strong focus on understanding developer needs and improving their platform experience
