Role Overview
Railway is seeking an early-stage Brand Designer to help define and evolve its visual identity across all touchpoints. This role plays a key part in shaping how Railway is perceived by developers worldwide, spanning marketing, community, documentation, and product-adjacent experiences.
The Brand Designer will collaborate closely with Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to create compelling, consistent, and highly functional brand systems. This is an opportunity to influence a fast-growing developer platform at a foundational level.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, the Brand Designer will:
- Collaborate with design, logistics, and engineering teams to create systems, campaigns, and mechanisms that improve adoption and market positioning
- Design and iterate on key website pages to strengthen Railway’s value proposition (e.g., features pages, competitive comparisons)
- Redesign and unify the existing website to ensure consistency, usability, and responsiveness
- Create intuitive, visually engaging documentation and help resources, contributing to the evolution of Railway’s Help Station as a community and support hub
- Define community-facing brand identity elements across help, guides, and feature feedback surfaces
- Develop launch campaign assets, including visual identity, websites, artifacts, and swag
- Measure, analyze, and optimize website conversion metrics through design-led initiatives
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear illustrations, diagrams, animations, or interactive visuals
- Explore new ideas, workflows, and interaction models that push the boundaries of what can be done within a browser viewport
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will bring:
- 4–5+ years of experience designing high-quality digital products and brand experiences
- Strong visual and interaction design skills, with the ability to create novel and original solutions
- Experience owning and evolving a full brand identity end-to-end
- A systems-thinking mindset, with the ability to design scalable branding and design frameworks across multiple mediums
- Interest in experimenting with emerging technologies and interactive design techniques
- A strong sense of animation timing, rhythm, and motion design details
- An understanding of how design decisions contribute to broader business and growth goals
- Clear, proactive communication habits, including sharing progress, asking questions, and welcoming feedback
- The ability to balance creative excellence with efficiency by building reusable design systems
