About the Role
As Affirm expands globally, this senior leadership role is responsible for designing and scaling the company’s global payroll and equity administration functions. The Senior Director will ensure every employee worldwide receives accurate, compliant, and seamless compensation and equity experiences.
You will oversee operations across multiple countries and build scalable systems, policies, and processes that support rapid international growth.
Key Responsibilities
🌍 Global Strategy & Operational Excellence
- Architect and optimize global payroll and equity processes for international scale
- Design policies, technology roadmaps, and organizational structures for global compliance
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll cycles and equity events worldwide
- Manage vendor relationships and transformation budgets
👥 Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead Global Payroll and Global Equity Administration teams
- Directly manage two senior leaders
- Foster a culture of precision, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Guide teams through expansion, system changes, and M&A integrations
⚖️ Compliance, Risk & Audit
- Ensure compliance with international laws, tax rules, and regulatory filings
- Serve as primary contact for payroll and equity audits
- Maintain strong SOX-compliant internal controls
- Provide subject matter expertise on global compensation requirements
🤝 Executive Partnership & Employee Experience
- Partner with senior leaders across Finance, Legal, Tax, Treasury, IT, and People teams
- Align payroll and equity strategy with business goals
- Deliver a consistent, high-quality employee compensation experience
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 12+ years managing global payroll and equity functions
- Experience in multinational, high-growth public companies
- Experience supporting 2,000+ global employees
- Expertise in global payroll systems and equity administration platforms (e.g., Schwab)
- Proven success leading large-scale system implementations (e.g., Workday)
- Experience integrating payroll & equity processes during M&A
Knowledge & Skills
- Expert understanding of international compensation and tax compliance
- Strong compliance and SOX controls expertise
- Executive-level communication and stakeholder influence skills
- Ability to lead large-scale transformation initiatives
Compensation
Base Salary (U.S.):
- $285,000 – $355,000 (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT)
- $253,000 – $323,000 (other states)
Equity: Eligible for equity awards
