Position Overview
Helen of Troy is seeking a Staff Accountant (Commissions) to join its Finance team. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the sales commissions process, supporting month-end close activities, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC requirements. The position works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely commission payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute all aspects of the sales commissions process
- Prepare journal entries, schedules, and analyses in accordance with GAAP during month-end close
- Partner with internal and external sales representatives to ensure accurate and timely commission payments
- Respond to ad hoc inquiries related to commissions
- Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Build and maintain monthly and quarterly income statement reports
- Perform income statement and balance sheet variance analyses versus budget and prior year
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation
- Prepare and validate supporting schedules for SEC reporting
Required Skills & Competencies
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong independent work ethic combined with effective teamwork skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to collaborate with various levels of management
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 1+ year of relevant accounting experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, trial balances, SEC reporting, and financial reporting
- Authorization to work full-time in the United States
